15 Rites - a series in progress
An evolving series and collection of ideas and observations of the political dynamics since the 2024 election. This series is meant to process the historical reality of our nation, including how controversial it has become to acknowledge the truth of our past, our role in the current state of affairs, and an intentional closure on the pathways of science and education. In it, there is a seeking of understanding in the patterns of our past, and desire to build out a blueprint of hope for our future.
15 Rites, 2025, Mixed Media: Acrylic on canvas; paper and canvas collage; Framed: 31 x 63 x 2 inches Only 15% of the world’s population is White, and yet the elites of this 15% continue to refer to the other 85% of humans as Minorities. In places where the White Minority holds the vast majority of wealth and resources, their luxurious lives were fundamentally built upon the exploitation and murder of the non-White Majority.

Koa Makes a Point, 2025, Mixed Media: Paper collage and acrylic on canvas, 20 x 20 x 1.5 in Inspired by the writing of Koa Beck, we’re reminded how much feminism is just for white women. Whether subtle or overt, the end result is the same–so many voices are silenced and left behind. With the 2024 election, this became all that much clearer as white women failed to do their part in stopping the rise of an authoritarian ruling party, and instead continued to hang on the coattails of white privilege.

God Sends a She Bear, 2025 Mixed Media: Acrylic on linen canvas collages onto acrylic painting on canvas 24 x 36 x 1.5 inches Bringing vibrant colors and joy to the examination of the foundational literature that many would advocate should be the moral guide for our society. Mythology-based literature and doctrine has been used as a weapon for oppression for centuries. Instead, how might we turn the tables of violence that are used to as a mechanism to suppress equality. Kings 2:23-24 He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying “Go up you Baldhead! Go up you Baldhead!” And he turned around, and when th saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord. And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys.
Freddie’s Solution, 2025, Mixed Media: Paper collage and acrylic on canvas, 16 x 20 x 1.5 in An homage to Freddie Oversteegen and other brave women who had the courage of action when faced with the realities of fascism. The Nazis were monsters. And they were also weak, greedy, and arrogant. Freddie Oversteegen saw this clearly and gave many of them the punishment they deserved, luring them into the woods with hints at romance and sending them to their graves.
Alex Asks the Question, 2024, Acrylic on canvas, Framed: 24 x 24 x .5 in In a viral video, podcaster Alex Cooper asked the question of male pro-life protesters if they would be willing to subjugate the male body to medical mandates, such as vasectomies, for the sake of their cause. That this question invites disbelief at even being voiced is worthy of exploring how and why society draws the lines of bodily autonomy.
